How do I become a member of Trinity?
The Bible does not talk about church membership. It does talk about “Discipleship” – becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Membership in a church, however, is an important aspect of our Christian Discipleship, in that we can unite with other Christian people in our work, and witness. It is important to note that the Bible never mentions God’s people where they are not found to be in community with one another.
There are three basic ways in which you can become a member of Trinity:
- Baptism: Baptism is the means through which we become members of the Kingdom of God and a part of a Christian congregation. Baptism is an act of obedience to our Lord’s command and a sign of our faith. If you would like to schedule a Baptism of an infant or small child, contact our Church Office (564-8547) and you will be sent a packet informing you of upcoming dates and Baptismal classes. Adults wishing to be Baptized are expected to attend a Pre- Baptismal Class and a Basic Training Class*.
- Trinity Associate: If you have already been baptized in a Christian Church but are not presently active in a Lutheran Church, you may become a member after first becoming a Trinity Associate. As a Trinity Associates, you fully participate in any ministries of your choosing at Trinity and “try us out” while you are considering membership. After a period of time, you will be asked if you want to become a member, remain an Associate, or look for another congregation that will meet your needs. You may become a member by attending Basic Training Class*.
- Lutherans From Other Congregations: If you are a member in good standing of another Lutheran Church and already know you wish to become a member of Trinity, you may bypass the Trinity Associates process and be received into membership at the next opportunity.
For more membership information contact the church office at 564-8547
